BREEDS & GROUPS
I learned by making flash cars of the breeds.
Then I realized that the way breeds were grouped was wrong.
So I re-grouped them in what turned out to be an order of neoteny.
Which, strangely, covetailed exactly with observable types of breeds.
I guess that the reason we have different breeds, is because they are
natural stages in wolves.
It is NOT an artificial grouping – that is how the breeds natural fall
when you sort dog flash cards. (Provided you know dogs.)
But then, I realized that few collies still herded sheep,
few bloodhounds still tracked people, few cartdogs still pullled milkcarts.
So I regrouped them again, spinning off the dogs that still worked or hunted,
the field-bred dogs into their own Kingdoms, then made newer Kingdoms
for all the newer needs we have for dogs.
PROFESSIONS
So I wrote up my totally new way – a new pardigm.
But then I realized that most of my new way,
might be a return to how it was 200 years and more ago.
BLEND
We still have dogs that hunt the way they have for ages.
But we need newer criteria for breeding dogs.
Yes, we need to breed for health & temperament!
But we need to give breeders a goal.
We need to give breeders a test to judge their dogs by.
We need to have talent shows for dogs,
because we have people who want to go to dog shows
and compete with their dogs, and breed more dogs to win.
If we do NOT have talent shows, dog breeders will use some silly & harmful way
of deciding what dog to breed.
We have to make it very easy for dog breeders to judge their breeding stock
in a way useful to society.
In other words, we are having trouble putting the brakes on this mess,
so let’s focus on steering instead, because that is something
the club can do. (Only the government can put on the brakes).

Dog Kingdoms & Parties.
Dogs are divided into these 8 Kingdoms:
*The Kingdom of Housedogs.
*The Kingdom of Hunting Dogs.
*The Kingdom of Natural Dogs.
*The Kingdom of Professional Dogs.
*The Kingdom of Showdogs.
*The Kingdom of Sportdogs.
*The Kingdom of Traditional Workdogs.
*The Kingdom of Wild Dogs.

Each of the 8 Kingdoms have their own way of sub dividing dogs. If one Kingdom makes a change, this doesn’t force other Kingdoms to change. Each Kingdom rules it’s own area of specialization.

Kingdoms are sub-divided into “Parties”.

For example: Housedogs are subdivided into 6 Parties based on size. Each of these 6 Parties is co-ordinated by its own club, which holds it’s own shows, and has a stud book devoted to it.

Field type hunting dogs have their own kingdom, called The Hunting Dog Kingdom, which is not divided by size, but by the kind of hunting they do.

Herding dogs that actually herd are in The Traditional Workdog Kingdom.

It may sound complex, but it doesn’t have to be; you can just find your own niche, and not learn the details any of the other Kingdoms and Parties.

It is possible for a dog to qualify and enter more than one party. For example, a retriever, may qualify for a duck retriever, a rusher, a guide dog, a housedog, a sled dog, a sniffer, and a patrol dog, as well as other parties. If he can do it, he can do it; if he can’t he can’t.

Which means if he can usefully herd sheep, the fact that he is a retriever can’t keep him from the sheepherding shows.

Which also means if he can fetch ducks from fall ponds, and his coat can repel water, then he has a good chance of becoming a duck retriever, but if he can’t usefully retrieve ducks, he isn’t a duck retriever no matter what his pedigree has written on it.
