Pete the Vet

I found a link and followed it, to this article about growing ‘meat’ in a laboratory. This link is against the idea. But that is the logical direction for organ replacement, life extension and longevity, and animal rights.

I love that photo, too bad it isn’t a desktop background!

This is the blog that had the link, which I fetched,

This about the gov finally getting around to regulating the dog industry.

I do hope the gov in the US doesn’t rush into it and try to do it in one fell swoop.

Neither the gov here, or the public, understand the issues, or has a big picture on just how the dog industries are in the real world – just because an industry isn’t regulated by the gov, doesn’t mean that some group(s) isn’t(aren’t) controlling it.

I believe that much of what is put out as “information” about dogs in the US, is really just a bunch of selfish propaganda.

I believe that the best thing for American government to do is to regulate the number of unfixed dogs allowed per residence/ per property, and per person.

Different numbers for different place. 1 or 2 unfixed dog per property in some place, like NYC. But maybe 12 unfixed dogs in some other areas.

Or if puppymills with 100 to 1,000 dogs have already settled in your area, then limits of 50 unfixed dogs, might be the best you can do.

You could have weighed limits, if there are too many large dogs at the pound being killed, for example: No more than 2 unspayed/ un-neutered dogs, who are over 5 months , and over 20 pounds and/or over 15 inches at the top of the withers.

You could silence many of the complaints about limit laws just be removing dog breeding as a tax shelter.

West Virgina where. . .

. . . if you use a gun you go to jail, but if you use an attack dog . . .?

The victim is in CRITICAL condition, and just what is the punishment for “failure to vaccinate” your dogs?

If it is YOUR dog, it should be YOUR problem when it nearly kills someone.

West Virgina, get your donkey out of the stop position. Even if dogs are vaccinated, they can be dangerous, make laws that make owners criminally responsible for their dog’s attacks.

Dogs should be in a locked yard, house, leashed, or under the owners control – at all times. Owners need to weigh the risk of letting their Chihuahua run loose, and letting their pack of pit bulls run loose.

If I have a pet tiger, and I let it run loose, and it half kills you – who is really at fault? The tiger for being a tiger (like Chris Rock said) or the person who bought the tiger, and lets it run loose – where (like Chris Rock said), it might just naturally “go tiger”?

Maybe there is more to the news than what is out yet, but here it is:

Dog shows R going 2 the dogs.

When I was a kid, there were ads about the dog show in Bermuda. The photos were always beautiful with ocean and people in tropical clothes.

I think it was more common, but at least one woman who I spoke to, said that she and some of her friends continued to raise dogs just to go to the Bermuda dog show.

Then there were people, more than I can re-count, who got into dogs as a tax shelter, so they could write off motering about the country in a RV.

Now it is the Long Beach California show (this year’s is in a couple more weeks) – perhaps a nice place, but not an upscale island. Dog shows are so going to the dogs, aren’t they?

Ever hear ” With friends like that, who needs enemies?”

Michael Vick is going to schools and telling children that making dogs fight is an unwise idea.

He would be the one to know about it, wouldn’t he?
